I shopped for my first kayak for several weeks until I finally chose the Mustang 120X a week and a half ago. It was a little more than I wanted to spend for my first kayak, as there are cheaper boats available at other stores. After checking out Sundolphins and Lifetimes at the spot my girlfriend and I have been canoeing at, i decided that, while Pelicans are on the lower end of the kayak spectrum, the other 2 brands I mentioned above just seem and look like...toys.
I've had my Mustang 120X on the water twice. As a beginner, it was easy to get in and out of. It paddles easily, maneuvers easily, the seat is comfortable and the boat itself is stable. I took it out on fairly open waters on a local reservoir with 20 mph wind gusts. The water was choppy enough that waves broke over the bow every few minutes. The boat still went wherever I aimed her and wasn't fazed by the wind and waves too much. I was out for 3 and a half hours and stayed relatively dry, even though my boat took on about a gallon or so of water.
If you can find one in stock, I suggest buying it. I wasn't disappointed with mine although I sent an email to Peican 4 days ago asking a question and never got a reply. Not sure how their customer service skills are normally or if they're just swamped with Covid19 issues.
I would buy it again. In fact, I just did. Hopefully the stock availability is correct and I don't get an email stating that it's not M in stock when the store opens tomorrow.
As for Dick's, they were great. The website and stock availability seem to be way off. I've called several stores to confirm that something was in stock as the website stated, but talking to an actual employee proved otherwise. Fingers crossed that the 2nd Mustang 120X I just purchased online is actually in stock.C***7
I've owned my Trailblazer kayak for 3 years and its held up extremely well. I bought it as a starter being new to kayaking and have never had any problems with it. Its easy to get on my car rack, easy to get in and out of the water, and easy to use. An added bonus for me is that its roomy even though I'm well over 6 feet tall. I've used it in minor rapids (Class 1-2) with no problems but it will take on water quickly so you have to be cautious. My only complaints with the kayak is that the drain plug isn't all the way to the rear, making it very difficult to get all the water out of it. Also, I don't find the standard seat very comfortable. I'm upgrading to a much more advanced kayak but plan to keep this one for general use simply because it is so easy to use. If you are new to kayaking and don't want to spend much money, this is definitely the one to go with.

Have had the kayak for 10 months - fished it about 30 times. This is my sixth kayak and so far the best for stillwater fishing. Lightweight, fast, and tracks fairly well for a 10ft kayak. It is nimble. I can easily turn it for the direction I want to cast. Seat is great - fished an eight hour tournament in comfort. I can load it on my car by myself easily. I am 6'2 and 180 lbs - plenty of leg room and great five point contact. I like being able to take the handles off to avoid getting flies caught on them (fly fishing). Rod holders, front bungee cords, hatch - all designed well for fly fishing where a ton of fishing equipment isn't necessary. Rides over the waves fairly well and no hull slap when fishing. The water bottle holder is small, so I had to get a smaller water bottle. The plastic seems a bit soft and thin, but for the reduced weight, one has to accept that.

I bought this a month ago. Really excited to get it out on the water.

I bought this for my daughter’ birthday. We went out on it last weekend in a group of 4 kayaks and 2 canoes. She was the only one with the BRIGHT PINK. She was also one of the only people who didn’t tip. Thank goodness for a HOT DAY.

After renting kayaks for several years, I decided to finally buy my own. The Trailblazer 100 NXT is perfect for beginners. It is very stable in the water, which was one of my main concerns. The kayak guides smoothly through the water and tracks well while paddling. I do get turned around easily when I stop to rest/float, but that's not a big issue for me. I have only used this in calm lakes, but I think it will do well in gentle rivers as well. Overall, it is a great quality for the price. You can't beat it.

I've had the Bandit for a few months now and I love it. Very stable. Tracks well. Easy to paddle. I have nothing bad to say about it. I am enjoying it immensely.

I am in love with this kayak. Cant wait to go fishing with it. First one and am very happy. Been out 3 times and each time it gets better. I would recommend this for a newbie like myself.

I bought this kayak in early September and have used it twice now. I love the color, durability, and its lightweight and easy to haul. I am a female and weigh about 135 lbs. and have no problem loading and unloading this on the top of my SUV. I love the bungee cords that hold everything in place and the extra cargo net underneath the front which I use to hold my phone. I would not recommend taking this out on a larger lake when its windy because the water is a bit too choppy and the kayak sits pretty low to the water which made me nervous. I ended up going to a smaller lake which was much better for kayaking. I guess if your more of a risk taker you could take it out on a bigger lake or a small river. That's just not for me. It rides really smooth and because it's so lightweight seemed really easy to move. I would recommend only hauling on a roof rack with cross bars and ratchet straps to tie down in place so it won't move or shift at all.
